Roman architect and engineer, Marcus Vitruvius concluded that truly great buildings must be “Solid, useful and beautiful.”
Centuries later acclaimed Chicago architect, “Father of the Skyscraper” and mentor to Frank Lloyd Wright, Louis Sullivan, distilled this maxim down to its very essence.......... “Form follows function.” It is the definitive statement of design integrity, purity, and power.
Staying true to this ethos has always been the central driver in all our developments over the years, be it an urban renewal in the affluent Sydney enclave of Woollahra, new luxury apartments in Beverly Hills California or World class tropical resort in our magnificent Whitsundays in Queensland. Built form has always followed function resulting in high appeal and satisfaction for our owners and award-winning recognition by the judges.
In adopting, and indeed enthusiastically embracing this same ethos at Masthead, it was essential to consider this building in the context of a radically changed new World. If form must follow function, then the burning question is...... “What is its function” in a post pandemic world? In other words what do our owners now really need and want. It is no longer simply about one’s lifestyle “preferences.” Its more about ones real “imperatives and priorities” for a happy and healthy lifestyle. After all what else counts? It is these “functions” and imperatives which have driven the “form” and design of Masthead Ocean Club.
Our team of world class professionals have considered these new imperatives in microscopic detail whilst simultaneously adhering to the prevailing fundamental design maxims . In particular our creative collaboration with Edo and his fantastic team at BANDA in London has helped lift this project to a standard not seen before in Australia. We believe we have produced a building of unprecedented luxury, amenity, style, and exclusivity for its new owners. Read on and judge for yourself........
